Self-Host a Dune: Awakening Server (PC)

Free self-hosting is PC-only

Funcom offers free self-hosted dedicated servers, but the supported route is PC-only: a Windows host running Hyper-V, a lightweight Alpine VM, and Kubernetes to run the server containers. This is not available on PS5 or Xbox.

What the setup involves

The official self-hosting path is documented by Funcom as a Windows + Hyper-V + Alpine + Kubernetes stack. It is a real systems-administration task — plan for networking (port forwarding), storage and keeping the server updated with patches.

Console players: use Nitrado

On console the only private-server option is renting through Nitrado (see the Nitrado guide). If you are deciding between the two: self-hosting is free but PC-only and fiddly; Nitrado is paid but console-compatible and managed.
